British India. East India Company - Victoria gold Mohur 1841-(c) MS62 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM462.2, Prid-22, S&W-3.11 Type B/1, W.W. incuse with crosslet 4. Obv. Young portrait of Queen Victoria left. Rev. Lion facing left, with palm tree in background and denomination below. Regarded as the rarest variety for the split legend type, with the obvious addition of a ""spike"" that punctuates the intersecting lines of the 4 in the date. Fully lustrous, with light marks and a sharp strike. The re-cut date adds to the interest of this very scarce type. As nice as any example we have offered of this variety.

Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price. Any questions or concerns about VAT should be addressed to your accountant or local tax authority.
